![]() ![]() Chara didn’t ever need a good reason to hate on humanity, Chara was a sociopath. I once saw someone on the internet mentioning how Chara fit very well into the description of malignant narcissism, and that makes sense. Anything you do as the player influences their character, no matter which route you take (and however you perceive those routes is also all up to personal interpretation!), but the player is not at all involved in anything that happened before that point. You don’t get a lot of information on Chara, so you’re allowed to fill in the blanks yourself. We do not know why Chara hated humanity, and the only hint we have is that they did not have a happy reason for climbing the mountain. So really, I both agree and disagree with the OP Chara did not die a good child, and anything before and after that point is all personal interpretation. Yet all we know about Chara’s… character is that they hated humanity and were not a happy child. Asriel did not like to cause harm to anyone (as evidenced by his actions in the human village). Before then, we know more about Asriel than we do of Chara Asriel was a crybaby. ![]() Flowey is more of a tragedy that happened because of Chara’s actions, while Chara got as bad as they did because of the player’s actions. Nothing Flowey did was planned because Asriel didn’t ask to become a flower. I also don’t see how people are saying Asriel is no different, or is even worse than Chara Flowey’s actions happened due to his inability to feel love and compassion. ![]() Once you hear that monsters were on the search for six human souls and must kill every human that falls in the underground, all because of one child who came up with a crazy plan to commit suicide in order to cross through the barrier and nearly start another war, you’re not exactly going to think the best of them. It’s not a black-and-white morality we’re dealing with here, yet so many people are treating it that way. I certainly do not see them as the spawn of all evil that so many see them as, but I do not see them as this innocent angel who did nothing wrong either. I like to think that Chara was a rather messed up kid as a result of how humanity may have treated them, giving them their reason to hate humanity. So I don’t see why people are excusing Chara’s actions here. It may have been part of a plan to save monsters (or it may not), but Asriel didn’t want to harm humans in the process, and we don’t know if he knew that Chara had that in mind (or even if Chara planned that – for all we know, this could have been an impulse). This was not caused at all by anything the player did, that was all them. The narrator theory is also a very good one that has substantial evidence.īut that doesn’t exactly excuse them for wanting to destroy humanity, back when they were alive. And yes, they climbed the mountain for an unhappy reason. So, yes, their actions at the end of the bad run were due to your actions as the player. ![]()
